10 Ways To Raise Your Consciousness

10 Ways To Raise Your Consciousness

1. Truth - Truth raises your consciousness. Falsehood lowers it.

First, accept the truth. Whatever you’re afraid to know lowers your consciousness.

Secondly, speak the truth. If honesty is a challenge for you, it’s because you aren’t being honest enough with yourself. Lies you tell others are shadowed by lies you tell yourself.

The more you’re able to accept and speak the truth, the more conscious you become. Raise your consciousness by uncovering and dumping all traces of falsehood from your life. Allow this to be a gradual process. As your consciousness increases, genuine honesty will come more easily to you.

Yes, there may be consequences when you switch from lies and half-truths to the full truth, but highly conscious people know that crossing that bridge is well worth the effect.

A short-term adjustment is nothing compared to the joys of living honestly and openly. It’s so much easier and less stressful to be yourself and allow others to do the same. Not everyone will appreciate the real you, especially if they’ve grown accustomed to a false version, but that won’t matter once you accept and appreciate yourself.

2. Courage - Courage raises your consciousness. Cowardice lowers it.

Courage is the gatekeeper between unconscious growth and conscious growth. As long as you remain on the unconscious side, life will keep throwing problems at you until you step up and take charge. When you face your fear, the fear vanishes, and problems transform into opportunities. But when you run from your problems, your fear only grows.

A powerful guiding principle to adopt is, “Whatever I fear, I must face.” The more fears you face down, the more conscious you become. As you master this lesson, eventually courage becomes less necessary.

Once you develop the courage to face any fear life throws at you, you stop attracting so many fear-based experiences into your life. This is why courage is the dividing line between unconscious growth and conscious growth.

The mastery of courage gives you the power to decide how you’ll grow instead of being a victim of the whims of fate.

3. Compassion - Compassion raises your consciousness. Cruelty lowers it.

A great way to become more conscious is to search for signs of unconscious cruelty and disconnection in your life. This can be very difficult to do since it also requires courage. We naturally resist facing our own cruelty, but it’s there just waiting to be uncovered.

Compassion is the root of unconditional love, a feeling of connectedness with everything that exists. Do you feel connected to yourself? To others? To animals? To all living things? To everything that exists? The more you develop this connection, the more conscious and aware you become.

4. Desire - Desire raises your consciousness. Apathy lowers it.

When you get clear about what you want, such as by setting a goal, you raise your consciousness. Clarity focuses your mind and gives you the power to think and act intelligently. You can feel this effect whenever you think about something you definitely want.

On the other hand, when your desire is unclear, your consciousness is muddled. Your thoughts lack focus and direction, and you merely spin your wheels.

Strive to become more clear about what you truly desire most, and your consciousness will expand.

5. Attention - Attention raises your consciousness. Distraction lowers it.

Improving your ability to concentrate will make you more conscious. Pick up a rock and give it your full and complete attention, and notice what happens. But allow your mind to be riddled with distractions, and your consciousness will sink. A distracted mind is a powerless mind.

Meditation is a great way to practice attention and concentration. Sit quietly, breathe deeply, and focus your mind as you do your best to tune out distracting thoughts. This is simple to learn, but it can take a lifetime to master.

6. Knowledge - Knowledge raises your consciousness. Ignorance lowers it.

First and foremost, know thyself. Think deeply about your life, and keep a journal to record your thoughts. Ask questions to which you don’t know the answer, and then search for those answers.

Look around you as well, and soak up knowledge like a sponge. Interact with your environment with a sense of curiosity and wonder. Study it. Learn from it. Experiment with it.

Strive to understand reality, including your role in it, as accurately as possible. The more accurate your beliefs about reality are, the more conscious you become.

7. Reason - Reason raises your consciousness. Irrationality lowers it.

Logic is a powerful tool of consciousness when used correctly. It lends structure and substance to thought.

However, the great challenge of logic is the avoidance of false assumptions. A single false assumption can throw off a lifetime of otherwise logical conclusions. So challenge all of your beliefs, and never have too much certainty about those that rest on clouds.

8. Conscious people - Conscious people raise your consciousness. Unconscious people lower it.

Seek out others you perceive to be at a higher level of consciousness than you are. Talk to them, ask questions, and enjoy their presence. Allow their ideas and awareness to infect you, and you’ll find yourself expanding in all directions. You’ll become more honest, more courageous, more compassionate, and so on.

But spend time with people at a lower level of consciousness, and you’ll gradually sink to their level. Their thoughts will infect you as well, causing you to become more dishonest, more fearful, more apathetic, etc.

Strive to find a balance between spending time with those who raise your consciousness vs. spending time with those you can help. Learn from those who are a little more conscious, and help those who are a little less conscious than you. In this manner you serve the highest good of all, expanding consciousness everywhere.

9. Energy - Energy raises your consciousness. Disease lowers it.

Take care of your physical body, for it is your primary means of interacting with the world. Energy gives you an ongoing flow of vital life experiences. But without energy you starve your consciousness.

Eat with an awareness of what you’re consuming. Exercise with an awareness of how you’re affecting your body and mind. Before putting anything in your body, consider its effect on your energy, not just in the short term but in the long term as well. Always ask yourself, “Will this produce energy or disease?”

10. Intention - The intention to raise your consciousness raises it. The intention to lower your consciousness lowers it.

Consciousness has the capacity to self-expand or self-contract, just as you have the capacity to grow or to commit suicide. In any given moment, you have the freedom of choice.

By genuinely voicing the intention (or by offering the prayer), “I intend to become more conscious and aware,” you will initiate the expansion of your consciousness. Holding the intention to improve in any of the previous nine areas will yield a similar effect.

Alternatively, you are perfectly free to lower your consciousness at any time. While it’s unlikely you would choose to do so directly, you can achieve the same effect indirectly by lowering your performance in any of the previous nine areas. By choosing to lie, to succumb to fear, to commit acts of cruelty, to remain ignorant, and so on, you put out the intention to lower your consciousness. And in so doing, you initiate a process that will attract more falsehood, fear, cruelty, ignorance, etc. into your life.

Every thought you hold serves to either expand or contract your consciousness. There is no neutral. So choose wisely!

5 Steps To Beating Depression
It is a powerful truth that such feelings, as with worry, fear, and feelings of lack for example will create a self-fulfilling vortex that can only ever result in more of the same, until alas sometimes a person will reach the stage where they feel that "life is not worth living anymore", often with an unhappy ending.

It does not matter how your life "seems", the important fact to grasp initially is that whatever we are experiencing now we have attracted to us by our thoughts - every single time - no exceptions.

It is absolutely crucial to accept responsibility for your perceived situation, and to never, under any circumstances, lay the blame on anyone else, or ascribe it to such superstitious notions as "chance", "bad luck" or "misfortune". From the moment we arrive and start our conscious thought processes, even as a baby, we are creating our own reality.

So the very first thing to do is to accept the responsibility that you are blessed with as a conscious, intelligent, perfect aspect of God and that you have created your situation through wrongful thinking. Here are the 5 steps to turning your situation around:

Step 1:

As part of this crucial first step, apologise to yourself by saying "I am sorry". It is extremely important not to state what you are sorry for, because that will attract more of the same, rather simply, time and again, say "I am sorry".

Continue to do this until you actually feel sorry, and have thereby accepted the fact that you have indeed created your reality with your thoughts.

Step 2:

The next step in turning your life around is to stop allowing negative thoughts.

Every time you sense a negative though that is not consistent with your objectives entering your consciousness, immediately say "Cancel!, Cancel!, Cancel!..." and for as any times as is necessary until the thought dissipates. It is better to say "Cancel!" aloud, but saying "Cancel!, Cancel!, Cancel!" in your Mind is adequate.

Keep practicing this for as long as it takes to cancel all negative thoughts, or at least until you can cancel them instinctively.

Step 3:

Next decide what you do want in life - this is extremely important. When you have decided write it down in the present tense in as much detail as possible, for example "I have a beautiful........" and write down everything you desire and provide the date or year you wish to see this by, while making it believable.

At the end of your letter to God say "thank you God for delivering this to me" or words to that effect. Then put your paper away somewhere and forget about it.

Step 4:

Next start focusing on your desire as if you have it now.
Take time each day, just before and after sleep is an excellent time, to remain totally relaxed and play your desire in your Mind like a movie with you as the central point of focus - never from a "third party" perspective.

At the end thank God and know that you have it Now - beyond any possible doubt. And then go about your daily routine. If ever a negative thought enters your Mind, say "Cancel!, Cancel", Cancel" immediately.

Step 5:

Search the Internet or catalogues for pictures that represent your wishes and print them and cut them out if on paper.
Get a large sheet of cardboard and stick these pictures on your board, and then place a picture of yourself in the centre.

Write under the pictures - "my new home", "my new car", "my exotic vacation" etc. and look at your board as often as possible - again particular just before or after sleep. This is called a "Vision Board".

Never attempt to decide how your wishes will be delivered.

Your own Subconscious Mind is infinitely powerful, and communicated directly with Universal Mind, and together can bring any experience into your experience.

Know, beyond all doubt, that The Source, of all Creation, the Universe in all its realms, including the physical Universes each with there multitudes of galaxies, suns and planets, many of which support life of every possible kind, all with incredible abundance, variety and perfection, has no issues in delivering your wishes, which are nothing by comparison because:

"For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom"-- Luke 12:30-32

The Master is saying - do not look without for your needs. Realise God within, and know God is the Source of All that Is.

Know that God knows that you have "needs" in your physical experience. So seek your needs within, and all those things "shall be added unto you" by the Pleasure of God, The Source of All that Is.

Never look to the ephemeral, transient illusion of the physical world to supply your needs. Have true "Faith" and "Belief" in your own Divine nature, and your intimate connectedness with The All.

And never confuse blind faith, or an abstract belief of religion, with the true Faith and Belief as taught in the Bible. True Faith and true Belief are not theological, they are Spiritual.

During the day do high vibration things such as playing your favourite music, releasing your favourite fragrances, looking at happy photos etc, as well as your Vision Board" and Feel Unconditional Love for everything  - be happy and joyful.

Follow these 5 steps, and know, beyond all doubt, that whatever experience you have created for yourself will turn around completely, and you will know that there is nothing you cannot be, do or have.

 Two Horses

There is a place in the countryside with a field that has two horses in it.

From a distance, each horse looks like any other horse. But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing....

Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him.

This alone is amazing.

If you stand nearby and listen, you will hear the sound of a bell.

Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field.

Attached to the horse's halter is a small bell. It lets the blind friend know where the other horse is, so he can follow.

As you stand and watch these two friends,
You'll see that the horse with the bell is always checking on the blind horse,
And that the blind horse will listen for the bell and then slowly walk
To where the other horse is,
Trusting that he will not be led astray.

When the horse with the bell returns
To the shelter of the barn each evening,
It stops occasionally and looks back,
Making sure that the blind friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses,
God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect
Or because we have problems or challenges.

He watches over us and even brings others into our lives To help us when we are in need..

Sometimes we are the blind horse Being guided by the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives.

Other times we are the guide horse, helping others to find their way....

Good friends are like that... You may not always see them, but you know they are always there.

Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours.

And remember...

Be kinder than necessary- Everyone you meet is fighting Some kind of battle.

Live simply,
Love generously,
Care deeply,
Speak kindly......

Leave the rest to God

Peace, Love & Gods, Blessings.

Today's Fast Session------------------------------

Since I've had so many requests about how I went from a real bum to being able to write to tens of thousands of friends all over the world, here's the story.  It's...interesting.

Up until early 1987 I regularly used to beg the gods for an answer to the question of why I couldn't get myself to do what I needed to do to get my simple goals met.  Why was I so lazy and miserable?  I was just... a bum.

I got fired from countless jobs.  I flunked out of college.  And then got fired some more.

Finally, after reading some very popular books on selling and motivation over and over...

...I continued to fail, not making one single solitary thin dime in my commissioned sales job for close to TWO more years.  If it weren't for friends and then my trusty Ford Econoline van, I literally would've been living "on" the street.

One day, during this period, while sitting in my van, a man walked up and started talking to me.  He was brilliant.  He went on to tell the story of when he, as an announcer, covered the World Series back in the late 60's.  He had all the names; he knew stats like it was yesterday.  His voice was clearly that of a broadcaster. But the thing that was most incredible was...

...He was pushing a shopping cart, which carried all his earthly possessions.

He was homeless, too.  Living on the street.  I couldn't believe it.

He told me that he just got sick of the daily challenges.  One problem after another.  He literally became unable to function in any capacity.  Very quickly he had lost everything.  At the end, it was by choice.

Sadly, I could identify with THIS guy more than anyone I had met in a while.  I was very low, but fortunately, I hadn't quite reached that level...

...Yet.

I did want to get off the "street" and stop being a bum.  So I found this great bookstore around Hermosa Beach that had comfy chairs, and I started spending a lot of time there.

Ultimately, I had gotten very familiar with a number of self-help change methods, including NLP, self-talk and Accelerated Learning techniques.  Like I said, I had a lot of time on my hands.

I soon came back to Upstate New York, got a menial job and started to create my own Superlearning tapes with three cheap, borrowed tape players.  Only instead of learning a language or factual data at lightning speeds, I figured I'd teach myself new attitudes and instruct myself to do things that sent tremors of fear through me... actions that could change me from a loser to someone I'd be proud to be.

So from every sales, biography, motivation, NLP and don't worry, be happy book I could find, I pulled out all the lessons, the beliefs and the attitudes of life's top performers.  I turned them into self-instructions, and recorded them onto tapes with very specific baroque music passages playing in the background.

It was quite a setup. I was desperate and willing to do anything.  I couldn't be getting fired more from any more $5.00 an hour jobs.

In what seemed like just a few days, I began to feel differences.  In my new job, I started working lots of hours putting coin-operated TVs together and installing them.  Soon, I was making telephone calls to prospective customers, large travel plazas with big restaurants.

These early TV boxes were downright ugly, but I was able to convince the presidents of nearly every one of these huge corporations to let us tear up their nice dining rooms to put these things in.  It was wild.  I mean, I just got in a frenzy of conviction before each call.

The more I listened to my tapes while I slept, the more fanatical I got about reading and learning.  Among my recorded self-instructions were ones that told me I loved learning and that I was the greatest salesman in the world.  Ha!!  I put in that the more I succeeded, the more success I wanted.  Talk about a vicious cycle, huh?

Well, soon I had exhausted the company's inventory of TV's.  And since the revenue each one made wasn't that high, the company had no money to buy the parts to build hundreds more.  Even though it proved to be a dead end job, it felt good not being fired.

So I left to start selling hearing instruments. I just got scary good.  In an industry where 20-25% closing ratios were typical, I was selling 95%.  In just about 4 months, that self-instruction about being the greatest salesman in the world was eerily coming true... at least in that industry.  Soon I was going seven days a week.  Missing a sale was just not an option.

I continued to listen to my tapes and develop new ones.  Considering where I came from to where I was now, I figured that anything was possible.  I researched and made tapes for everything from diet practices to anxiety.  I had gone from being scared of everything to feeling like I couldn't fail.

I used to use double negatives when I spoke. "I didn't do nothing" was a famous line.  This drove people around me crazy.  So I researched communication and public speaking and made an accelerated success tape.

Whenever I wanted to eliminate a block, get good at something, or feel better about myself, I looked for the top professionals, researched their findings, uncovered lots of conflicting data, found what made sense and made a tape in the accelerated learning format.

I've found there wasn't anything that I couldn't literally install into or rip out of my mind.  And with the right thoughts and instructions, you could create an endless loop of success, each good outcome fueling in you the desire to keep the positive change and to improve even more.

In short, that's the early part of the story that leads me to today, getting to talk to you.

I hope this answered a few questions and inspired you to believe that no matter what you're going through right now, you are truly magnificent.  All you have to do is release your blocks and embrace your unlimited potential. There's enormous power within you.  It might be buried, but it's there.

I know, I know.  If that seems a little beyond what your belief system currently allows you to accept, I understand.  That's OK.  Keep reading and repeating your self instructions.
You'll become a believer soon enough.

Through the Eyes of a Child

We were the only family with children in the restaurant. I sat Erik in a high chair and noticed everyone was quietly eating and talking. Suddenly,Erik squealed with glee and said, "Hi there." He pounded his fat baby hands on the high-chair tray. His eyes were wide with excitement and his mouth was bared in a toothless grin. He wriggled and giggled with merriment.

I looked around and saw the source of his merriment. It was a man with a tattered rag of a coat, dirty, greasy and worn. His pants were baggy with a zipper at half-mast and his toes poked out of would be shoes. His shirt was dirty and his hair was uncombed and unwashed. His whiskers were too short to be called a beard and his nose was so varicose, it looked like a road map. We were too far from him to smell, but I was sure he smelled. His hands waved and flapped on loose wrists."Hi there, baby; hi there, big boy. I see ya, buster," the man said to Erik.

My husband and I exchanged looks, "What do we do?" Everyone in the restaurant noticed and looked at us and then at the man. The old geezer was creating a nuisance with my beautiful baby. Our meal came and the man began shouting from across the room, "Do ya know patty cake? Do you know peek-a-boo? Hey, look, he knows peek-a boo. Nobody thought the old man was cute. He was obviously drunk. My husband and I were embarrassed. We ate in silence, all except for Erik, who was running through his repertoire for the admiring skid-row bum, who in turn, reciprocated with his cute comments.

We finally got through the meal and headed for the door. My husband went to pay the check and told me to meet him in the parking lot. The old man sat poised between me and the door. "Lord, just let me out of here before he speaks to me or Erik," I prayed. As I drew closer to the man, I turned my back trying to side-step him and avoid any air he might be breathing. As I did, Erik leaned over my arm, reaching with both arms in a baby's pick-me-up position. Before I could stop him, Erik had propelled himself from my arms to the man's.

Suddenly a very old smelly man and a very young baby consummated their love relationship. Erik, in an act of total trust, love, and submission laid his tiny head upon the man's ragged shoulder. The man's eyes closed and I saw tears hover beneath his lashes. His aged hands full of grime, pain and hard labor, gently, so gently cradled my baby's bottom and stroked his back.

No two beings have ever loved so deeply for so short a time. I stood awestruck. The old man rocked and cradled Erik in his arms for a moment, and then his eyes opened and set squarely on mine. He said in a firm commanding voice, "You take care of this baby." Somehow I managed, "I will," from a throat that contained a stone. He pried Erik from his chest unwillingly, longingly, as though he were in pain. I received my baby, and the man said, "God bless you, ma'am, you've given me my greatest gift."

I said nothing more than a muttered thanks. With Erik in my arms, I ran for the car. My husband was wondering why I was crying and holding Erik so tightly, and why I was saying,"My God, my God, forgive me." I had just witnessed Christ's love shown through the innocence of a tiny child who saw no sin, who made no judgement, a child who saw a soul, and a mother who saw a suit of clothes.

I was a Christian who was blind, holding a child who was not. I felt it was God asking...."Are you willing to share your son for a moment?", when HE shared His for an eternity. The ragged old man, unwittingly, had reminded me, "To enter the Kingdom of God, we must become as little children."
